Media that has been formative in my life

Last semester, I took Intro to World Politics taught by Dr. Waalkes. We were required to subscribe to the New York Times and read the International section Monday through Fridays. At first, I despaired. However, as I began reading these articles and keeping up with the stories, I realized how much interest I actually had in politics and global news. Having traveled to Asia, I found the stories concerning these countries particularly of interest. Civil rights and poverty stories capture my interest. Reading about aids in Africa, genocide in Darfur, and civil rights abuse in China drives me to want to help these people. I am learning to pray for these situations as I am made aware of them through the news media. Many of my prayers before this experience were related mostly with my little world. I believe God wants us to be aware what is going on in the world today so that we can pray for them and maybe we can help them in other ways as well.
